FTSE 100 movers: Endeavour Mining shines; Rentokil slumps again

(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 100 was down 1% at 7,424.52 in afternoon trade on Friday. Gold miner Endeavour was the standout gainer on the index as gold prices were boosted by a flight to safety.

Mondi and Hargreaves Lansdown were also in the black, having fallen a day earlier on the back of updates.

Rentokil Initial was under the cosh for the second day in a row, after saying on Thursday that its full-year performance in North America was set to be "marginally below" its previous expectations, citing "near-term market uncertainty".

InterContinental Hotels Group fell after it reported a big slowdown in RevPAR - a key performance measure used in the hospitality industry - in the third quarter as growth softened across all regions. However, the group said it still expects a "very strong financial performance" this year.

HSBC was knocked lower by a downgrade to 'market perform' at KBW.
