Audioboom reports jump in audience reach
(Sharecast News) - Podcast producer and distributor Audioboom announced a significant milestone in its audience reach on Friday, achieving record-breaking figures in January, propelled by the continued expansion of its podcast network. The AIM-traded firm said that throughout January, podcasts within the Audioboom Creator Network garnered downloads from more than 38.6 million unique listeners globally, marking a notable increase of over 9% compared to the monthly average of the fourth quarter of 2023, which stood at 34.4 million.
It put the surge in audience engagement down to the successful introduction of new podcasts in the Audioboom Creator Network.
Notably, the debut of shows such as Matt & Shane's Secret Podcast and The Why Files contributed to the achievement.
The company said the new entries made a notable impact in the latest Triton Digital podcast ranker, with The Why Files securing the 76th position and Audioboom Studios' production, National Park After Dark, debuting at 92.
Looking ahead, Audioboom said it remained committed to bringing high-quality podcasts with substantial audiences to its platform throughout 2024.
In the United States, Audioboom said it had continued to solidify its position as the fifth-largest podcast publisher according to the Triton Digital ranker.
Notably, the company was now within striking distance of American radio giant Audacy, trailing by just 100,000 listeners.
Audioboom's rapid growth outpaced competitors, with the company now 1.5 million weekly listeners behind third-place holder Wondery.
That marked a significant reduction from the 2.5 million gap seen in the January 2023 ranking.
"Listeners continue to flock to podcasting and we are doing an incredible job of growing the Audioboom Creator Network audience faster than our competitors," said chief executive officer Stuart Last.
"We are developing true global audience scale - key to providing our brand partners with powerful, targeted advertising options to capture the full value of podcasting for our creators."
At 1338 GMT, shares in Audioboom Group were up 6.19% at 252.2p.
