Investment objective
The Fund aims to achieve capital growth over the long term. It looks to outperform the FTSE 250 ex Investment Trusts Index over rolling 3-year periods, after the deduction of charges. The Fund is actively managed, and invests at least 90% of its assets in shares of companies listed on the London Stock Exchange; predominantly companies domiciled in the UK, or which have significant UK business operations.

Fund manager biography
James Thorne joined the company in 2010 as a portfolio manager in the UK equities team. He is lead manager of the CT UK Smaller Companies Fund, deputy manager of the CT UK Sustainable Equity Fund and co-manager of the CT UK Mid 250 Fund as well as for a range of small and mid-cap institutional portfolios. He has previously held responsibility for a range of sectors for the wider team including chemicals and technology. James has extensive experience of the smaller companies sector, having worked at Baring Asset Management, Hill Samuel and Abbey Life as well as private equity company 3i. He has a BSc in Oceanography with Geology from the University of Southampton and an MSc in Instrumentation and Analytical Science from the University of Manchester.

Craig Adey is a portfolio manager on the UK equities team. He is co-manager of the CT UK Mid 250 Fund, deputy manager of the CT UK Smaller Companies Fund and co-manager for a range of institutional mandates. He previously held responsibility for banks, distributors, gaming and non-life insurance sectors for the wider team, and before that worked in the Client Portfolio Manager role for the desk. Craig holds a First Class Honours degree in International Business, Finance and Economics from the University of Manchester. Craig also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and the Investment Management Certificate.
