Thursday preview: US CPI, Jet2 in the spotlight
(Sharecast News) - The market spotlight on Thursday will be on the US consumer price report for the month of June. Consensus is for the annual rate of increase in headline CPI to have slipped from 3.3% for May to 3.1% in June.
Core CPI on the other hand is seen unchanged at 3.4%.
On home shores meanwhile, at 0600 BST the Office for National Statistics will publish gross domestic product figures for May.
They will be followed at 0830 by the Bank of England's Credit Conditions survey for the second quarter.
Also due out before the market open in London is a reading on German consumer prices in June.
On the company side of things, Jet2 is due to release its fiscal 2024 results.
UBS analyst Jarrod Castle anticipates full-year revenues will reach about £6.5bn (consensus: £6.3bn), for a rise in earnings before interest and taxes from £394m one year before to £435m.
In a recent update, the airline guided towards full-year profit before tax, before foreign exchange movements, of £515-520m.
However, investors' focus would be on the outlook for the summer and guidance for the following year, he said.
