Friday preview: Global PMIs, UK retail sales, in focus

(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus at the end of the week will be on a raft of preliminary survey results, covering the month of June, for manufacturing and services sector activity in the UK, euro area and US. The Purchasing Managers' Indices are expected to reveal faster growth at home and across the Channel, versus a slowdown in the States.

That is also the consensus for the French PMIs, so it will be interesting to see if economists' forecasts pan out.

Also due for release on home shores are public sector borrowing and retail sales figures for May.

Overnight, consultancy GfK will also publish the results of its consumer confidence survey for the UK in June.

Out of Asia, investors in Japan were waiting on consumer price data for May.

Existing home sales data for May were also scheduled to be published in the US.
