Investment objective
The investment objective of the Trust is to achieve capital growth by investing in Europe excluding the United Kingdom. The Trust will seek to achieve its investment objective by investing at least 75% of its total assets directly and indirectly in equities and equity-related securities of smaller companies incorporated in, or exercising the predominant part of their economic activity in Europe excluding the United Kingdom, or quoted or traded on the stock exchanges in Europe excluding the United Kingdom. Smaller European companies can be defined as those companies which are constituents of the bottom 30% of total market capitalisation of Europe’s listed companies (this excludes companies in the United Kingdom).

Our view
Why we like the fund:
This fund invests in companies across Europe (excluding the UK) which the fund managers believe offer attractive growth potential at a reasonable price. The focus is on medium and smaller companies, where they believe the most attractive growth opportunities lie. The fund is managed by one of the most experienced teams in the sector and they have worked together for a long time. They carry out detailed company research, which is particularly important when investing in smaller companies.
How to use the fund:
This fund is likely to require a long investment horizon of ten years or more. This should allow invetors to benefit from the rewards that should come from an above-average-risk investment. This fund and Schroder European Recovery should blend well because they invest using quite different approaches.
